FOOD FOR THOUGHT – A DISCUSSION ON END OF LIFE ISSUES
You have a massive heart attack and end up at an emergency room alone. Your doctor wants you to have an aggressive treatment, but you want to attend your child’s wedding. Should you go into hospice or palliative care? How do your personal and spiritual values affect these and many other medical decisions?
On Sunday, March 1, join a distinguished panel of WPC members who will address end of life issues through case studies, questions, and answers in Hoffman Hall at 12:30pm. Panelists are Rebecca Crane-Okada, PhD, RN, a Director of the Breast Cancer Patient Navigation and Integrative Therapies at St. John’s; Dr. Laurel Powers, MD, Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at UCLA and Board Certified in Hospice and Palliative Care; and Dr. Terri Langford, who has worked as an emergency room physician. They will discuss case studies illustrating the end-of-life issues that affect us all. Your questions will be welcome.
