WPC’s Chancel Choir will present Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Five Mystical Songs at both the 9am and 11am services. Though the music received its premiere in 1911, the words are centuries old. Vaughan Williams drew the texts from priest and poet George Herbert’s The Temple (published shortly after his death in 1633) and organized them to progress from Jesus’ sacrifice and resurrection, our remembrance of this through Communion, and the sharing of the Good News with the world. Featuring baritone Section Leader Nathan Baglyos, this work offers both subtle and dramatic moments with a wide variety of vocal and orchestral colors. Please join us for this moving musical reflection of the season. Contact Karen Cooksey (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you wish to participate.
