Women Reading — A Spool of Blue Thread
Women Reading will meet Wednesday, January 4, at 7:30pm in Hoffman Hall to discuss A Spool of Blue Thread by Pulitzer prize winning author Anne Tyler. This engrossing novel vividly presents four generations of the Whitshank family of Baltimore. The New York Times book reviewer writes: “Give or take a few details, this extended/blended/fouled-up family could be any of ours. It’s…quintessential Anne Tyler, as well as quintessential American comedy. …Goodness trumps wickedness, there’s no place like home and, yes, we can all go there again, even if it isn’t that perfect place we long for.” This charming, sometimes exasperating, and often funny book is perfect holiday reading. Joan Sargent will lead our discussion. As usual, you do not need to have read the book to join us.
