On Saturday, March 13 at 2:00pm, Mark Jones will be ordained to Ministry of Word and Sacrament. We are grateful that the Presbytery of the Pacific has blessed our request to transition Mark’s current work to an ordained position. Click the "Livestream" button below to watch it on March 13 at 2:00pm. Why now? Mark has been pursuing ordination for a number of years, but it is only recently that all of the pieces have come into place. What is required to be ordained? Requirements include a Masters of Divinity degree, five ordination examinations from the denomination, and a job that is determined by the Presbytery to be eligible for ordination. Why wasn’t a search committee required? Our Presbytery determined that Mark’s service in his current role can be considered a specialized ministry eligible for ordination – just as worthy of ordination as an associate pastor or pastor. This determination has allowed us to move much, much more quickly than a search process would allow. Will we still be filling Matt’s position? We are planning to call another associate pastor. Before we launch the search, we are reviewing the job description to take into account your feedback from the Discernment T.F.’s Focus groups, as well as an assessment of the gifts and skills of our current staff. What will Mark’s position be called? Instead of Director, his position will be called Pastor for Mission, Outreach, and Pastoral Care.
