This federal holiday commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African-Americans, and is also an opportunity to celebrate the blessings of Black culture.   Father’s Day. The celebration of fathers and paternal bonds has been marked by Americans on the 3rd Sunday of June since 1910. It is an opportunity for us to honor not only members of our families, but also those who have influenced us through our family of faith.
