Updates from the Pastor Nominating Committee

PNC Important Update!

The Pastor Nominating Committee is thrilled to introduce the person called to be WPC’s next Pastor and Head of Staff. This individual was the PNC’s unanimous choice after a nine-month search that considered over 90 applications and reviewed many highly qualified candidates.

Our candidate has served in Christian ministry for over 25 years. References refer to our candidate as an inspiring servant leader, a thoughtful, creative preacher, a bridge-builder, and an empathetic pastor. The PNC, in our personal interactions, has found the candidate to be a genuine, dynamic follower of Jesus Christ with the vision and personal dynamism WPC will need to embark upon the next era of its journey.

Please stop by Hoffman Hall on Saturday, July 18 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. for an open house as we welcome the candidate and their spouse for a meet and greet. This will be a great opportunity to get to know the candidate and to ask any questions. On Sunday, July 19, the candidate will lead us in worship, following which the congregation will meet to vote on a motion to confirm the PNC’s recommendation to call the candidate to serve as WPC’s next Pastor and Head of Staff.

The following Sunday, July 26, Rev. Dr. Chakoian will have her final Sunday with us (she retires July 31). A farewell reception for Chris and John will be held in Hoffman Hall after worship. Be sure to join us as we thank Pastor Chris for her service to the WPC community and send her into retirement with lots of love and prayers. And please feel free to reach out to others who may want to join in the celebration of Chris – all are welcome!

We also invite you to make a monetary gift to WPC in Chris’ honor. She has requested that all donations go to the church, and gifts are tax deductible. We will seek Chris & John’s input on how that gift will be used. Please give by cash or check in worship or online here.
