Updates from the Pastor Nominating Committee

WPC seeks a SENIOR PASTOR and HEAD OF STAFF.  Our new pastor will be a dynamic preacher who can take our church, established in 1947, into its next era. Preferred Requirements:

M.Div. and PC(USA) ordination (or transfer eligible)

• 5-10+ years pastoral leadership experience

• Capital campaign/building project experience

• Strong preaching and executive management skills

• Staff and team leadership experience

• Commitment to social justice (Micah 6:8)

• Urban/metropolitan ministry experience

• Optimistic, charismatic, with sense of humor

Your Pastor Nominating Committee, by design, toils in obscurity. But some important details we can share. Since January we've met weekly to discuss the candidacies of talented pastors interested in leading the next era of our adventures in Westwood.

Our discernment has narrowed down a list of 80 candidates to a much smaller group. We have begun interviews. While we continue to welcome any question or concern, we respect confidentiality and won't mention candidates to anyone other than their named references. Please keep praying for your PNC!

We have completed a Ministry Discernment Profile (MDP), which has been approved by Session and the Presbytery Committee on Ministry (COM), and is now posted to the Church Leadership Connection (CLC) website. Presbyterian polity is a feast for alphabet soup lovers.

CLC matches our MDP with applicants throughout the denomination and across the nation, and the PNC is sorting through those matches. Click here to view the MDP now.

And the Committee is posting the MDP elsewhere on online job forums, as well as using our clergy and lay networks to spread the word that our wonderful church is offering the opportunity to shepherd a vibrant and caring congregation in the service of Christ.
