Mission Corner: Salvation Army Clothing Drive
Every year, WPC offers special opportunies to give to those in need during the Christmas Season. And if you would rather roll up your sleeves and get involved, there's a hands on opportunity you can join!
CHRISTMAS TURKEY DINNERS
For over 30 years, WPC has provided Christmas turkey dinners to underserved families in greater LA, partnering with local churches (Community United, Wilshire, and Westminster Presbyterian), nonprofits (PATH and St. Joseph Center), and Esperanza Elementary School. This year our goal of $26,600 will give 700 families a delicious Christmas dinner with all the trimmings. Each family-sized meal costs $38. And, you can volunteer, too! Click here for all the details or to sign up for the Christmas Turkey Dinner Box Packing days - your help is greatly appreciated!
CHRISTMAS GIFT, GROCERY & TOY DRIVE
Celebrate the joy of Christmas giving! Beginning Sunday, November 30 please stop by the Christmas tree on the Side Porch on Sunday mornings. The tree is filled with tags from a Christmas “wish list” for 6 families living in the Salvation Army Transitional Village on Sepulveda Blvd. in Westwood. The Village provides support services for homeless families, offering stability and skills for a future of independent living. Pick up a gift tag, purchase the gift, and return the unwrapped gift to WPC by December 14.
CHRISTMAS JOY OFFERING
Join in our annual Christmas Joy Offering! One half will be shared among three vital mission endeavors. Our Presbyterian Church (USA) Assistance Program supports retired pastors and missionaries who have given their lives to ministry. Our Presbyterian racial-ethnic schools help students develop their gifts and discover their calling. And locally, the Westside Food Bank distributes food for more than 500 households each week, in addition to its work with veterans, homebound seniors, and families with children in school. One half will contribute to the ministry of our beloved church. Click here to give online today, or give in worship this December.
POINSETTIAS
Through Sunday, December 21, you can order a poinsettia to adorn the sanctuary for Christmas. Our Deacons will be on the Side Porch after worship taking orders, or you can order online here. In our tradition, dedications in honor or memory of a loved one will appear in the Christmas Eve bulletin. Poinsettias may be purchased for $15 each here.
