Composed in 1984 in memory of Lloyd Webber’s father, composer William Lloyd Webber, the Requiem premiered in February 1985 at St. Thomas Church in New York. Both the premier and studio recording featured Placido Domingo, Sarah Brightman and boy soprano Paul Miles-Kingston under the director of Lorin Maazel. In 1986 the album received the GRAMMY® Award for Best Classical Contemporary Composition.

A traditional setting of the Latin Requiem Mass for soloists, choir and orchestra, the highlight of the Requiem is the gentle and memorable duet, Pie Jesu, which became a Silver hit in the UK. The Hosanna takes a tuneful melody and infuses it with Lloyd Webber’s love of rock idioms.

This concert will also feature choral works by composers Miklós Rózsa and William Ross.

Featured soloists are Devon Davidson (soprano), Raewyn Davidson (child soprano), Elias Berezin (tenor), the WPC Chancel Choir & Chamber Orchestra under the baton of music director Dan Redfeld.

This concert is a FREE event thanks to a special grant from the Musicians Trust Fund. There is no reserved seating but space is limited. Click here to reserve your spot today!
