Women’s Ministries

Our faith is never fully complete—and at our best, we learn and grow, question and doubt, search and pray together.
In our tradition, both the head and the heart are needful for faith—so you will find a place here for intellectual curiosity and challenge, as well as spiritual practices that engage body, mind, and soul.
Join us for informative and illuminating lectures that explore timely social, cultural, and scientific issues from a perspective of faith. Led by distinguished speakers from LA and the national scene, these thought-provoking presentations are offered four-to-six Sundays a year following worship. Check out videos of our latest Faith Conversations here!
Our book study group meets every Sunday following worship, and new participants are always welcome. Led by professors John Quiring and Dr. John Becker, recent books have included The Political Crisis and Christian Ethics by Ronald Stone and Paul by N.T. Wright.
Every week our Bible study group meets in the Conference Room following worship (both in person and online). Sessions include background, history, and interpretation, as well as meaning for our lives, as we walk through various books of Scripture. Our study is led by Elizabeth Evans, MDiv.
Every fall and in each Lenten season, we gather in small groups to explore a book together. Our goal is to deepen our faith in conversation and community. Each season, the book that is chosen is connected with our themes in worship; they have included The Great Search by John Philip Newell; I Am Not Your Enemy: Stories to Transform a Divided World by Michael McRay; and Jesus and the Disinherited by Howard Thurman.
In addition to Vespers services, we share occasional silent retreats to deepen our spirits and calm our souls. Facilitators guide us in contemplation, and then offer an extended time of prayer, walking meditation, and reflection.
